Robbie Williams - Reality Killed The Video Star Review

I’ve been waiting for what seems to be weeks for this album to be released and to my great pleasure it was released onto Spotify UK 4 days before it’s actual release to download or purchase in stores.

I was looking forward to hearing good old Robbie back to fighting form with his amazingly cocky dance moves to boot. Unfortunately I was greatly disappointed…

His original single “Bodies” from the album is (without doubt) my favourite song of 2009 because it just has that all together great combination of instruments, technology and vocals. It sounds like it could be straight out of Pro Evolution Soccer with the mixture of 8-bit inspired sound side by side with an orchestra. The thumping vocals at the beginning of the chorus are just brilliant and I can’t stop myself from singing along when I hear them.

With that being said, the other songs on the album are rather disappointing. They’re not terrible and in all honesty there are one or two I would listen to if I was to leave a playlist on, however none are a click and play situation. I wouldn’t open the playlist and play them by choice is what I mean.

I was hoping for things similar to “No Regrest”, “Millennium”, “It’s Only Us” and “Strong” but he’s not quite on the same page as those songs yet. Let’s hope his next album and singles will reflect his original stuff.

Still it’s worth a listen and if you have Spotify and are based in the UK you can listen to it for 4 days before anyone else here.
